On Friday, Schwartz tragically passed away, prompting an outpouring of grief and condolences from district employees, students, and community members alike.
The MASD reached out to parents on Saturday to share the news and honor Schwartz’s commitment to the school district, where he served on the board for nearly four years. “The employees and families of the Mukwonago Area School District were shocked and saddened to learn of the tragic passing of school board member Vito Schwartz on Friday,” the district’s statement read.
Schwartz leaves behind a legacy of dedication to both his family and his community. He is survived by four children, who are either graduates of Mukwonago High School or current students. Superintendent Dr. Joe Koch expressed deep sorrow at Schwartz’s passing and shared reflections on his contributions, saying, “Vito was a vocal supporter of our district.
Besides his work on our school board, Vito was active in the community as the co-owner of Semper Fi Roofing and a proud veteran of the Marine Corps.” Koch emphasized that Schwartz’s commitment to the district went beyond the boardroom and highlighted his hands-on involvement in community efforts. Schwartz’s colleagues and those who knew him describe him as a person of strong values and unyielding dedication to students’ educational experiences.
As a school board member, he advocated for policies and initiatives that supported both teachers and students, striving to create a positive environment for learning and growth. His influence was felt not only in school board meetings but also in community events, fundraisers, and initiatives to support local families and students.
Vito was a vocal supporter of our district,” MASD Superintendent Dr. Joe Koch said. “He will be greatly missed. We have a strong community and will work through the loss of Vito together.”
